Handmade by the rainforest tribes of Kalimantan, Borneo, this 100% natural rattan backpack is the perfect coastal addition to your wardrobe or home. They work great as planter baskets, grouped together on walls or as a market or beach bag.
It takes the women artisans of Kalimantan up to 2 days to weave just one of these beautiful Anjat Borneo backpacks. They must first harvest the rattan in the forest, then dry, clean, thin and prepare the strips into the desired widths and lengths. Finally, they weave the piece using natural dyes.
The decorative motifs vary from backpack to backpack and depict creepers, ferns, vines, fruits, women and shoots.
*Please Note: There are workshops in Java and Bali which are mass-producing similar Borneo Backpacks selling them at cheaper prices, however they are not as finely woven nor do they use materials as authentic.*
Dimensions: H: 32cm, W: 30cm
*As each bag is individually handcrafted, colours & size will differ slightly. Patterns may be different to the one pictured. There may be slight "imperfections" due to the handmade nature of the piece. If bag is squished or folded, simply mould back to shape with water.*
